Opportunities are now available to join your club’s Education Team!
Led by our dedicated Chief Instructors at each club, the education team drives the growth and development of lifesavers across the state. There are many avenues and opportunities for those who are interested in pursuing an educational pathway.
Within SA, there are over 106 trainers, assessors and facilitators who play a vital role in supporting our members to gain their qualifications and develop the skills required to be successful life saver.
“The Education team at every club plays a critical role in Surf Life Saving, as it touches every aspect of the movement. Without great educators, we would not have athletes on the beach competing, members supporting Junior participation, and most importantly, qualified and skilled members to patrol our beaches” - Miriam Scherer, SLSSA Member Education Manager.
The roles of a Trainer and Assessor are different. A Trainer delivers courses to members of their club and supports them through their learning journey. They also play a key role in ensuring new members feel welcome, safe and build connections at their SLSC. An Assessor is responsible for assessing participants once they have completed their training to ensure that they have the skills and knowledge required to be a successful member of a club.
With the support of Surf Life Saving Queensland, there is the opportunity to increase our Trainer and Assessor pool with the delivery of the Volunteer Trainer Delivery Skill Set and the Assess Skill Set Courses over the coming months.
Courses on offer are:
