Community Surf Rescue Certificate Courses

Community Surf Rescue Certificate Courses

Surf Life Saving SA have numerous Surf Rescue Certificate courses coming up over the summer months and the dates are available via our community course calendar.

These courses are open to all members of the community - there is no need to join a surf life saving club. Teachers, DECD aquatics instructors, surfing coaches, outdoor education providers and VACSWIM instructors are amongst those who gain and hold this qualification.

Surf Lifesavers Back On Patrol

The 2016/2017 Surf Lifesaving season began today with volunteer patrols raising the red and yellow flags for the first time in the season. A state wide Club Open Day marked the occasion encouraging members of the public to visit their local Surf Life Saving Club to learn more about the movement, increase their surf safety knowledge or find out how they can get involved.

Hundreds of new Nippers have signed up at Clubs all across the State. Seacliff Surf Life Saving Club President Andrew Chandler said “It’s great to see all the young kids out here on the beach. We are hoping to see lots of new members this season, another 40-50 kids down here would be fantastic. For us that’s what it’s all about getting families to be active on the beach together”.

With Surf Life Saving SA seeking to extend patrol coverage this season, most South Australian Clubs will be on patrolling in new ways and in new time slots.

Surf Life Saving SA CEO Clare Harris said “We are confident that our patrol teams are well prepared for the season and ready for the challenges ahead and we wish all of our volunteers on patrol a safe and successful season on the beach”.
